African Journal of Clinical Legal Education and Access to Justice (ISSN 2315-5728) invites articles and commentaries for publication. The Journal which is peer-assesed is devoted to law and legal education of significant research value, especially on developments on clinical legal education, justice education, and access to justice. The Journal is published by Network of University Legal Aid Institutions (NULAI Nigeria) in October annually. Articles submission is accepted at anytime on a rolling basis.

Articles must be original, and exclusively submitted to the Journal.

Authors are requested to follow the guidelines listed below:

  1. Articles should be submitted as an email attachment;
  2. Articles submitted must not be more than 12,000 words; formatted on A4 paper with 2.5cm margins, 1.5 line spacing, and Times New Roman font size 12;
  3. Title(s), name(s), affiliations, addresses and degrees of author(s) should appear only on the cover page of the article;
  4. Articles should be submitted with an abstract of not more than 200 words;
  5. As a condition for publication, contributors must state in their forwarding email that an article has not been and will not be submitted elsewhere for publication until a decision is made by the editors not to publish. The contributor shall also be deemed to have granted exclusive licence to publish an article to African Journal of Clinical Legal Education and Access to Justice and Network of University Legal Aid Institutions (NULAI) Nigeria or any assignee to publish in hard copy, and electronically for profit or not for profit;
  6. Authors undertake responsibility to adhere to the public ethics for the accuracy of references;
  7. Spelling shall be English (UK);
  8. All quotations of more than three lines should be indented and formatted in single line spacing with inverted commas at the beginning and at the end of such quotation;
  9. Citation of sources should be placed in footnotes using MS Word auto-format, single line spacing and indicated by superscript Arabic numerals placed in the text serial. The following format should be adhered to:

  • Books should be cited as follows: Author’s surname and initials, year of publication, title of the book (in italics), place of publication, publishers, page e.g. Jerry, T. (1994), Law for Animals, London, Sweet & Maxwell;
  • Chapters published in edited volumes should be cited as follows:
  • Yusuf R. (1998), “Why we should Teach Letter Writing in Law School”, in Rose K., (ed.), Teaching Lawyers and Law Teachers, Hart, (Oxford);
  • Articles published in periodicals should be cited as follows: Paul F., and John U. (2005), “A Survey of Teaching Methodology in Nigerian Law Schools” 19 Law Teacher 30;
  • Articles from Newspaper: Author given: Haram, B. “Extra Judicial Killing by Police”, (2011, July 15), Guardian Newspapers
  • Article from Newspaper: No Author given: “Extra Judicial Killing by Police” (2011, July 15), Guardian Newspapers
  • References to web page where the work or material is sourced should be provided including the names of Authors, and the title of Articles indicating the date of most recent access. Example,

Bonine J. E., “Standing to Sue: The First Step in Access to Justice”, available at: http://www.law.mercer.edu/elaw/standingtalk.html last visited/accessed on 10 July, 2007);
