Louis M. Brown and Forrest Mosten International Client Counseling Competition(ICCC) 2018

The winners of the 13th National Client Counselling Competition; Iteshi Bright and Princess Otah from the Faculty of Law, Ebonyi State University, Ebonyi, represented Nigeria at the 2018 Louis M. Brown and Forrest Mosten International Client Consultation Competition (ICCC) which was hosted by the University of Maastricht in The Netherlands.
The Competition comprised of 3 sessions; 2 preliminary rounds, the semi-finals and the finals. Team Nigeria made it through the preliminary rounds but couldn't proceed to the semi-finals because they had a tie and a toss of coin was made in this regard in which they were dropped.
The teams from Malaysia, Scotland and USA made it to the finals. The team from the University of Illinois, College of Law, United States of America (USA) emerged the winning team. The team from Glasgow University, Scotland emerged 1st Runners-up, while the Team from the University Sultan Zainal Abidin, Malaysia emerged 2nd Runners-up.
Other Countries that took part were: Australia, Belgium, Canada, Croatia, England, Georgia, Germany, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Kenya, Netherlands, New Zealand, Nigeria, Northern Ireland, Poland, Switzerland, Turkey and Ukraine.
The International Competition was named after Louis M Brown in 1993 in recognition of the inspiration he provided as originator of the competition. In 2010, the name was changed to acknowledge the  immense contribution of Californian lawyer Forrest S. Mosten who has been the president of the competition for over 25 years.

The 2019, Louis. M. Brown and Forrest Mosten International Client Counsellinig Competition shall be hosted by Dublin, Ireland. The topic for the competition shall be Criminal Law with Theft as the central theme. The 2019 ICCC shall hold from the 3rd- 6th of April 2018.
 
In line with this, NULAI is pleased to inform all Law Faculties and Nigerian Law School Campuses that registration for the 14th edition of the annual National Client Interviewing and Counseling Skills Competition is now open.
 
The 14th National Client Counselling Competition will hold in December 2018, or the first two weeks of January, 2019 tentatively. The National competition is affiliated with the Louis M. Brown and Forrest Mosten International Client Consultation Competition which aims to promote greater knowledge and interest among law students/lawyers to develop interviewing, planning, analytical and preventive (ADR) skills in the lawyer – client relationship in the office. The competition also provides a valuable educational and cultural interchange among students, law teachers and legal practitioners.
 
The winners of the National Competition would further represent Nigeria in the 2019 International Client Counselliing Competition.
